Text | Mrs. Phoebe Gilmore, an honored and respected citizen, died at the home of her son G. A. Isabel in Cassville, Sunday, Oct 26, 1912, aged 81 years, 2 months and 5 days. She had been in poor health for several months and was confined closely to her home. Her departure came as no surprise to her many friends who wondered at her remarkable endurance and patient submission to the ills of life. The deceased was born August 21, 1831, at Parkhampted, [Park Hampton?] Connecticut, where she was marred to Wm. H. Isabel in 1850. To this union were born one daughter and three sons, all of whom are dead except G. A. Isabel of Cassville. In 1860 she was married to William L. Gilmore at Ocala, Iowa, and to this union were born five children of whom only two survive, Mrs. A.G. Walker of Monett and Mrs. L. G. Spangler of Joplin. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at her son's residence by Rev. E. A. Frost and interment made in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gilmore was a member of the Christian Church, a woman of strength of character and won the love of her associates by her kind and loveable spirit. |
