Text | Neomah Jean Gibbons, 88, of Cassville, died at 6:10 a.m. yesterday, February 1, at Barry County Care Center in Cassville following a long illness. Mrs. Gibbons was born August 4, 1911, in the Horner community near Cassville, the daughter of Winford and Columbia (Wallen) Cox. She was a graduate of Cassville High School and attended State Teachers College in Springfield. She taught in the Cassville and Washburn schools and retired in the mid-1940's as principal. She operated Seven Valleys Motel until 1963 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. She married Jack Gibbons on August 19, 1930, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death September 11, 1983. Survivors include one brother, of Cassville; two nieces, one nephews, four great nieces, one great nephews, two great great nieces, and one great great nephew. She was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Gibbons; one brother, Buel Cox; and one sister, Pauline Cox. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, at Williamson Chapel in Cassville with Rev. John Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Horner Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the church or cemetery. |
