Obit For Charles Sanford Ghan

Text Charles Sanford Ghan, son of James M. and Effie Ghan, was born Dec 7, 1898, and departed this life, at his home, 3 miles north of Wheaton, Monday, May 14, 1951, age 52 years, 5 months and 7 days.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Evans April 5, 1919. He was converted at Muncey Chapel Methodist Church in the fall of 1933. In 1948 he and his wife united with the same church and he was a faithful member until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his father July 18, 1919.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his mother, Mrs. Effie Ghan, of Fresno, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Dema Holder, of Fresno, Calif., Ozella Tarvin of Hanford, Calif., a cousin, who his parents raised, and was a sister to him. Also a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 25 years and members of the local Masonic Lodge of which he was a member, conducted grave side funeral services.

At the time of his death he was employed by the Barnes-Stone Chevrolet Company of Wheaton.

Charley was a loving and kind husband, a most considerate son and brother, and as to his chain of friends, there is no end.

An extra large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives gathered at the Muncey Chapel Church Friday afternoon, May 18, to pay their last respects to Mr. Ghan. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Roy Stribling of Wheaton, assisted by Rev. Sherman Erickson of Monett. Pallbearers were Mike Drenon, Bob Clark and Claud Knighton of Independence, Mo., George Davidson of Bentonville, Ark., and Maurice Goodrich, W. I. Stone, Ross Garrison and Joe Minnelan. Burial was made in the church cemetery under direction of the Pogue Funeral Home.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for every act of kindness extended to us in our hour of sadness in the loss of our loved one, Charles Sanford Ghan.

Especially do we thank those who contributed food, sent flowers, those who helped at the grave, the quartet for the beautiful songs rendered, to Rev. Stribling and Rev. Erickson for their consoling words, the Pogue Funeral Home for the nice service rendered and the members of the Masonic Lodge. May God’s riches blessing rest upon each and every one who came to our assistance in any way.
