Text | Rachael Elizabeth Howell was born in Indiana June 4, 1831 and departed this life May 17, 1929, age 97 years, 11 months and 13 days. At the age of 1? she came to Missouri with her parents where she spent the remainder of her life. In the early life she chose Christ as her Savior and in the year of 1869 united with the Missionary Baptist Church and has lived a devoted Christian life. At death was a member of the Conway Baptist Church.
In the year of 1852 she was united in marriage to Joel S. Garner, who preceded her in death 28 years ago. To this union were born 12 children of which 8 survive. Two departed this life in infancy; one boy at the age of 16, one girl at the age of 3? (Note: Cannot tell if this is three or thirty something). The surviving ones are: W. T. Garner, Muskogee, Okla., R. M. Garner, Doniphan Mo., Mary E. Eubank, Stark City, Mo., James M. Garner, Homeland, Fla., Joel Garner, Rice, Wash., Martha ?os?ett, Enterprise, Ore., Mathew Garner, San Antonio, Texas, and Josie M. Smith of Rocky Comfort. Only a few were able to be present. Besides the children she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Katie Rookard, age 92 years, of ?en??ile Ore.; 41 grandchildren a number of great grand-children and a few great great-grand children. After the death of her husband she made her home with her son, J. M. Garner up to 9 years ago. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Josie, at Rocky Comfort. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 19 at the Rocky Comfort Baptist Church by Rev. Luther Carlin. Interment was made in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Pogue Undertaking Co.
