Text | Gilbert Freed, 82, who was stuck by an automobile while crossing Highway 37 at Washburn early in January, died Wednesday afternoon of last week. Mr. Freed was born February 16, 1874 in Benton, Ark., and moved to Washburn in 1894 where he farmed until 1942. His wife died in 1942. Surviving are two brothers, Homer Freed of Holton, Kansas and John Freed of Neosho. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Washburn Church of Christ with Bro. Morton Woodward officiating. Burial was in the King-Roller Cemetery under direction of Williamson Chapel In The Valley.
