Text | Joseph E. "Joe" Forgey, 90, of Wheaton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, in his home.
He was born June 13, 1921, in Seligman, the son of Elige and Winnie Gay (Bowman) Forgey. On July 15, 1946, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Glenda Ray Pitts, who preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Morris. Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Jo Davis, of Garfield, Ark., and Zelma Lee Nickell, of Wheaton; two sons, Jack Forgey and his wife, Connie, of Cassville, and Jerry Forgey and his wife, Rhonda, of Monett; nine grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. He was a lifelong resident of Barry County. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, from July 18, 1942, until Dec. 7, 1945. Throughout his life, he worked for McCullah Construction and Journagan Construction as a bulldozer operator and for M.F.A. at the fertilizer plant in Wheaton. He was a lifelong cattle farmer and member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Richard Buck conducted the services. Graveside services with military honors were at Ruddick Cemetery, Garfield, Ark. |
