Text | Mother of Phineas, Clarence, Miss Leona and Cora was stricken with paralysis about the third of the month at her son's in Aurora and died Sunday morning last. Her body was taken to Purdy Monday and placed besides her husband, deceased four years. Mrs. Fly was 69 the 28th of April last and was married Mar. 18th, 1858. She was a native of Barry county and learned to love the Ozark country when every thing was new and the simple life touched the heart of the girl and maiden with strength and purity that remained with her as long as she lived. Her husband had been one of the pioneer ministers of the Cumberland Church, a shepherd of sympathy and love for the poor and scattered flocks, and his wife a help-mate indeed. Mrs. Fly had been a sufferer for many years, and mother love and Christian fortitude grew beautiful and shown in reflected sweetness in the care bestowed upon her by her children who were privileged to be present when she entered into rest. |
