MOTHER; One in the glow of summer, When the earth was bright and fair,

Our Lord, from his White Throne in Heaven, Saw a mortal much bowed down with care,

A true heart, so toil worn and weary So tired of its burden and pain,

And he said, With Christ, the physician, This heart shall be happy again.

And then, in a July afternoon, In the quiet hours of the day,

He sent forth an angel from Heaven And carried my mother away.

I suppose the sun shines as brightly,

And the birds sing every so sweetly,

That the flowers lift up their bright faces.

The pure warm sunshine to greet,

But my heart is oh! So lonely.

I known I should not be sad,

For God lives in birds and sunshine And sometimes He'll make my heart glad.

For resting and glad in his great love, From sorrow and suffering free.

All safe. "In the Great Rock of Ages", My mother is waiting or me.
