Text | Harriett Odean Fenix was born June 18, 1901, and passed away Dec. 1, 1980 at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 18 days. She was a daughter of Jacob Roller, old and highly respected citizen of Barry County. She was united in marriage to Oliver Fenix, Sept 6, 1919, and to this union three children were born, Alphenia, age 19, Oren, age 16 and Jessie age 12. She professed faith in Christ and united with the Rock Springs Baptist Church at the age of 14, later uniting with the Washburn Baptist Church and remained a member until death. She is survived by her husband, her three children, father, stepmother, two brothers, Thomas Roller, Sloan, Iowa and Levi Roller, Seligman, two sister Chloe Carolyn Pippin, Seligman and Delilah May Withers, Omaha, Nebr., and many other relatives and friends. Burial was made in the family cemetery with the Koon Funeral Services in charge. Double Funeral Services Held Sunday A double funeral service was held at the Rock Springs Baptist Church near Washburn, Mo., on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3, 1939 for J. A. Roller and his niece Mrs. Harriet Odean Fenix. The services was conducted by Chas. Vanzandt. Prayer was offered by Rev. W. P. Richardson. Rev. Erickson sang a solo, “Never Grow Old”. A trio composed of Clinton Blythe, John Riddick and Prof. King, sang two vocal selections with Mrs. Maud Wilson at the piano. A very large assembly of relatives and friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to their departed ones. A fine spirit of cooperation was shown by the Undertakers in handling the large crowd. |
