Text | Faye (Smith) (Edwards) Farmer, 86, of Purdy, died at 9:36 p.m. yesterday, April 25, at South Barry County Hospital in Cassville following a brief illness. Mrs. Farmer was born November 17, 1912, in Purdy, and was a daughter of Thurman Oliver and Lula Ann (Oakes) Smith. She was a lifetime Purdy resident, owner and operator of Faye's Flowers in Purdy for several years until retirement, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Purdy. She married Amos Edwards on December 14, 1929, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death January 15, 1980. She married Fred Farmer on November 13, 1982, in Purdy, and he preceded her in death April 19. Survivors include one step-daughter, one brother, two sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one son, James Edwards, on March 1, 1987; one brother, Don Smith; and one sister, Fontella Bennett. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at the First Baptist Church in Purdy with Rev. Tony Martin and Rev. O. V. Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Fund. |
