Text | Mary Elizabeth Henson was the daughter of Thomas William and Mrs. Sarah Jane Henson. She was born at Flat Creek, Barry County, December 31, 1857. She was united in marriage to James Fountain Evans in 1876. To this union eight children were born, two of whom precede her in Eternity, Lida Evans, and Mrs. Rebecca Griffith. Early in life she accepted Christ as her Savior, then she united with the Primitive Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member and a devoted Christian to the last. She always tried to walk in the footsteps of Christ. She was always willing to aid people in distress. She never complained about her misfortunes. She leaves to mourn her passing six children, Mrs. Sarah Ellis, and Joe H. Evans of McDowell; George Evans of Jenkins; W.H. Evans of Seattle, Wash; E.W. Evans of Memphis, Tenn.; and J.W. Evans of Houston, Texas; two brothers. R.S. Henson of Monett; Joe Henson of Carthage; and one sister, Mrs. Sillar Taylor of Verden, Okla.; a host of grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances.
