| Text | Martha Elizabeth Etter, 80, of Monett died at 7:55 a.m. this morning, May 28, at her home. Mrs. Etter was born May 1, 1919 in Stotts City, the daughter of Loren and Mille Elizabeth Stotts Douthitt. She was a homemaker, and lived in Monett most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monett, the Eve of Rebekah Lodge 63, and the Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She married Oscar James Etter August 18, 1933 in Cassville, and he preceded her in death March 31, 1973. Survivors include one son, James Etter of Sarcoxie; two daughters, Margaret Meadows of Monett and Lenna Garrett of Bernice, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Monett and Lorene Eggeman of Mercede, California; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Millie. Services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2 p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett, with burial to follow in Van Buren Cemetery of Wentworth. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, May 31 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice in care of the funeral home. |
