Text | S. A. (Alex) Erwin of Sanger, Calif., who was born and reared in this county and lived south of Exeter, died a few weeks ago at the home of a brother whom he was visiting at Sacramento. He had been to San Francisco to attend the Exposition and was returning home. Stopping to visit his brother, David, he took sick and died there. He had three brothers and two sisters in this county. They are: George of Cassville, Will and Josh of Wayne, Mrs. J. F. Pilant of Exeter and Mrs. Calib Brattin of near Washburn. S. A. Erwin moved from this county to California about 30 years ago but he will be remembered by many of the older citizens. He had been a successful farmer in California and one of the leading citizens in the community where he lived. He was a member of the Baptist Church and of several lodges, in part, of which he carried insurance. The newspapers published in his home town spoke in highest terms of his standing as a citizen. |
