Text | Leon Erwin, 80, Washburn died Monday, May 16, 1994, at his home after an illness. Erwin was born July 10, 1913, at Washburn. He was a lifelong Barry Countian. He became an ordained deacon in 1943 and was ordained into the Baptist ministry in 1964. He pastured the Washburn First Baptist Church. He had served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Exeter, the Mount Olivet Church of Monett, and Rock Springs Church of Seligman. He also was a farmer. He married Loraine Long on November 15, 1942 at Exeter. She survives. Additional survivors include a son, Glenn Erwin, Texas City, Texas; a daughter Gloria Shank, Joplin; and four grandchildren. Services were today (Wednesday) at First Baptist Church, Washburn. Arnold Long and Glenn Erwin officiated. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
