Text | Mrs. Harriett Erwin was born in Tennessee July 12, 1835 and ended her earthly sojourn Sept. 3, 1921 at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was married to G.W. Erwin Sept 18, 1853. To them was born 13 children, 9 of whom survive. Mr. Erwin died July 7, 1907. The living children are: Mrs. J. F. Pilant, Mrs. Marion McGlothlin and Geo. Erwin of Exeter, J. E. and W. S. Erwin of Wayne, Mrs. Clabe Brattin of Vinita, Okla., Mrs. Sadie Kelly of Sanger, Calif., and Dave Erwin of Woodland, Calif. She also leaves 36 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She has been a resident of Barry county since early childhood. Funeral services were conducted at Exeter Saturday afternoon by C. F. Rose of this city. She united her life with Christ and the church many years ago. She was always ready to give assistance to those in need and especially in attending the sick and distressed. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Pilant in Exeter. Every attention was given her in her last days by sympathetic friends and member of her family. She repeatedly stated her desire for the home land of the soul and therefore leaves a legacy in the memory of those who mourn her loss.
