Text | George W. Irwin (Erwin), father of Mrs. Charley Catron of the Exeter community, passed away Tuesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lola Holt on Galena, KS, Route 1, three and one-fourth miles north of Riverton. Erwin had been in declining health the last two following severe injuries suffered when he was struck by a motor car at Galena. He was 84 at the time of his death. He was born in Barry County and moved to Galena in 1917. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Exeter. Surviving are three sons, Floyd of Greenleaf, Kan.; Loren of Paramount, Calif.; and Leon of Oroville, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Lela Hessee of Maryville, Calif.; Mrs. Lola Holt of Galena; Mrs. Charley Catron of Exeter, and Mrs. Harriett Webring of San Landros, Calif.; two sisters, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock this (Thursday) morning at the Derfelt funeral chapel in Galena. The body will be taken to Exeter, where services will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Charles VanZandt, officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood cemetery at Exeter. Research Note: Barry Co.
