Text | William T. Ellston of Springfield, a widely known business man of this section of the state succumbed suddenly to heart trouble in the reception room of he Metropolitan Hotel in Springfield, Thursday at 1:20 p.m. His body was brought to Exeter for burial. The funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian Church in charge of Rev. E. W. Love of this city and interment was made at the Maplewood Cemetery. The deceased was born at Lincoln, England, Marcy 1, 1844. In 1850 he came to America with his parents who settled at Cleveland, Ohio. After reaching manhood he went to Texas and remained several years. From Texas he came to Southwest Missouri and became interested in the milling business being associated with the R. C. Stone Milling Company. For awhile he was located at Exeter and later on he moved to Springfield where he resided until death. He was the father of C. N. Ellston, who is engaged in the mercantile and banking business at Exeter. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mary Leek, who resides Monte Ne, Ark. His wife died some years ago. Only a few days prior to his death he visited his son and family at Exeter. He seemed to be enjoying his usual health and was making plans to leave soon for Corpus Christi, Texas to spend the winter. His sudden death was a great shock to his family and friends. He was known to many Barry County citizens as being an influential business man and excellent citizen. |
