| Text | James Vernon Ellis, 76, of Washburn, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in his home. He was born July 31, 1932, in Washburn, the son of Franklin and Sarah (Mahurin) Ellis. On Nov. 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Keene, who survives. Additional survivors include: two sons, one daughter, a brother, a sister, 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lemmie and Bob Ellis; and one sister, Velma Stephens. He received his education at Measle Prairie and was a lifelong resident of the Washburn area. Contracting polio as a toddler, horses became an appendage for him. Most of his life was spent on horseback, which gave him intimate knowledge and relationships with horses. He was of the Baptist faith. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Washburn First Baptist Church. Cremation was under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. |
