Obit For James Franklin Ellis

Text James Franklin Ellis, 90, a lifetime resident of the Washburn area, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 1981 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Monett where he had been a patient since January 16.

Mr. Ellis was born March 5, 1890, near Washburn in Barry County. He was a retired farmer and member of the O.K. Assembly of God Church west of Washburn. His wife, Sarah Mahurin Ellis, whom he married December 7, 1912, died in March 1974.

Survivors include four sons, Lemmie Ellis, Wheaton and Loyd Ellis, James Ellis and Bob Ellis, all of Washburn; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Stephens, Washburn, and Mrs. Vivian Vanzandt, Garfield, Arkansas; three brothers, Clarence Ellis, Blackwell, Oklahoma, Harley Ellis, Seligman, and Bill Ellis, Florence, Kansas, 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Axley's Culver Chapel, Cassville. Officiating was Rev. Perry Hickman. Burial was in Dent Cemetery, west of Washburn.

Bill Boyd, Eli Bryant, Jim Garner, Johnny Harrison, Harold Howell and Glenn Welser served as pallbearers.
