Obit For Mrs. Louvena (Coble) Elgin

Text Mrs. Lou Elgin, 81 year old, Washburn died at 3 o'clock Monday morning January 3 at St. Vincent's Hospital at Monett where she had been a patient for a week. Born May 12, 1884 in Buffalo, Missouri, Mrs. Elgin had lived in the Washburn community most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washburn.

Survivors include her husband Allen Elgin; five daughters Mrs. Marie Chadd and Mrs. Dorothy Raney, both of Washburn. Mrs. Mae Hendrix, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mrs. Bernice Walden, Branson, Missouri and Mrs. Virginia McNabb, Cassville, Missouri; a brother Jim Coble, Vancouver, Washington, four sisters Mrs. Mabel Ure, Exeter, Missouri, Mrs. Lucy Mattingly, Washburn, Missouri, Mrs. Jewell Perryman, Porter, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Stella Wheelock, Great Bend, Kansas. 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Service were at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles VanZandt and the Rev. Walter Smart officiated. Burial was in Washburn Prairie Cemetery under direction of Culver Funeral Home of Cassville.
