Text | Allen Elgin, 89, Exeter, died at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 20 in the South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after a long illness. Born May 14, 1883, in Buffalo, he was a member of the Washburn Baptist Church, and was a retired miner and stone mason. Surviving are five daughters, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be a 2 p.m. Thursday at the Washburn Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Smart officiating. Research Note: Culver Funeral Home records list that he was a son of Matt Elgin and Mary unknown. (son of James Matthew Elgin and Mary Stepp) His closest relative was Mrs. Virginia McNabb, Exeter, MO. He was a miner and a mason. Buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery. Virginia McNabb was his daughter and she is buried at Antioch. |
