| Text - Outline | Donald “Rex” Edmondson, age 77, of Buffalo, Missouri, formerly of Cassville, Missouri, went to paradise to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2009, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born November 9, 1931, outside Cassville, the son of Leon and Marie (Frost) Edmondson. On February 10, 1980, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Alma Jean Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ron Edmondson. Rex attended Mt. Sinai School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1949. Later Rex attended Draughon’s Business College in Springfield, Missouri. During the Korean War he entered the United States Air Force, serving from January 18, 1952 until January 17, 1956, in Germany as a typist. For twenty-eight years he worked for the United States Post Office in Kansas City, before returning to Cassville upon his retirement in 1991. As a youth, Rex was saved and was baptized in Flat Creek alongside his brother and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. During his time in Kansas City, Rex was a faithful member and served as treasurer of the First Freewill Methodist Church. At his death, Rex was a member of Victory Baptist Church near his home in Cassville. Serving the Lord and the community were priorities for Rex. In Cassville, Rex served on the board at the Senior Citizen’s Center and along with his wife, Alma Jean, delivered meals to the homebound. Rex also gave his time and money to many different charities. He was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Russell Bishop and Reverend Bob Neeley will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in memory of Rex.
