| Text | Fern "Doc" Edens, 97, of Cassville, died at 11:45 p.m. July 27 at Barry County Care Center in Cassville. Mr. Edens was born June 19, 1903, in Washburn, the son of Hiram P. and Florence McGlothlin Edens. He was a lifelong Barry County resident and was employed for 17 years with Pet Milk Company. He worked for the Cassville Police Department for 14 years and served as chief of police, retiring 26 years ago. He was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Cassville and was a charter member of Barry County Mounted Sheriff's Posse. He married Clara Moore in January of 1928, and she preceded him in death on September 30, 1965. He married Clara Henbest on April 28, 1993. Additional survivors include one son, two daughters, one step-son, one sister, four grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren He was preceded in death by two sons and one sister, Alva Clark. Services were 2 p.m. today, July 31, at Fohn Chapel in Cassville. Burial was in King Cemetery in Washburn under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. |
