Text | Doris Lorayne (Sims) Easley, age 86, of Monett, Missouri, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, in her home following a long illness. Her constant companions, Max and Carolyn, were at her side. She was born December 13, 1921, in Cassville, Missouri, the daughter of John Lester and Avesta Fulton Sims. Doris was a graduate of Cassville High School, and thereafter, she began her career as a legal secretary in Barry County. She later became clerk for the Selective Service Board during the WWII years. Doris was united in marriage to Dan Eugene Easley, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, on November 28, 1943. Doris and Dan moved to Monett and operated Easley's Sinclair Service and owned two "can" milk routes for the next 22 years. Doris opened Easley's Beauty Shop in 1959, in her home, which she operated until 1986. Doris, Dan, and Max purchased the Dr. Pepper Bottling Franchise for Barry, Lawrence, and Stone counties, which they operated as Easley's Southwest Dr. Pepper Bottling company, Inc. until August 31, 2001. The family, during these years, also owned and leased rental property. Doris and Dan retired on September 1, 2001, at which time their son, Max continued to operate their real estate interest. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leo Sims and Mack Sims; two sisters, Lela Sims and Louise Sims Lowe. A Celebration of her Life service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Home with Rev. M.E. Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery of Monett. Visitation was held today (Wednesday) december 19, at the funeral home. |
