Text | Robert Andrew Duncan, old-time and highly respected citizen who resided south of town, passed away Sunday, March 13, 1932 at the old home place where he was born Feb. 20, 1851. His age was 81 years and 23 days and loving husband and father.
He was united in marriage to Emma Woods January 16, 1881 and settled on the farm where he resided until death came. Four children were born to this union, two sons and two daughters. One son and one daughter died in infancy. The living son, R. A. Duncan of Cincinnati, O., and daughter, Mrs. D. J. Griswold of Fargo, North Dakota, were at his beside when he passed into rest. He became a Christian in early manhood. His was the Christ like type of religion which helps manhood to rightly deal with his neighbors. He was an honest and honorable citizen, a kind and loving husband and father. His neighbors and friends joined his family and physician in doing all that loving hands and hearts could do to alleviate his cruel sufferings but God called him to eternal rest. "I go away to prepare a place for you that where I am there ye may be also." Besides his wife and children he is survived by two half sisters, Mrs. Fleetwood Barnett of near Wheaton and Mrs. Julian Barnett of Grove, Okla., and two half brothers, J. A. Duncan, Sr., of Wheaton and Charley Duncan of Washington. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Chas. Vanzandt, Tuesday afternoon March 15. Burial was made in the Chitwood Cemetery under the direction of Pogue's Undertaking Company. Card of Thanks We wish to express our sincere thanks to our many neighbors and friends who so kindly helped us through the trying days and weeks of the suffering, death and the funeral of our loving husband and father.
