Text | Flora Pauline Dummit, 92, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
She was born on May 22, 1918, at Butterfield, the daughter of William and Vida Belle (Lowe) Pennell. She was united in marriage to William Edwin "Abe" Dummit, who preceded her in death in October 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lorene Ray and Freda Smith. Survivors include: a son, Ed Dummit and his wife, Glenna, of McDowell, and a daughter, Nancy Gauss and her husband, Mike, of Cassville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a life-long resident of Barry County. She attended grade school at Gunter and continued her education at Butterfield, where she graduated high school with the class of 1937. She owned two restaurants for several years, one in Cassville and one in Butterfield, which she operated until she went to work for United Shoes, aka Jumping Jacks. In 1978, she retired from the shoe factory. She continued to work at the health department, OACAC and Cassville schools until she was 85. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Cassville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver and Rev. John Duncan will conduct the services. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. |
