Text | John Drinkwater 96, Butterfield, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, MO, where he had been a patient since Jan. 4.
Mr. Drinkwater was born on Oct. 28, 1876, at Rock, Kansas, and had lived most of his life in Barry County. He was a retired farmer. He was the subject on March 2, 1970, of a featured article in the Joplin Globe, recalling the Battle of Pea Ridge, Ark. At the time of the article he was Butterfield's oldest resident at age 93. His father the late John Drinkwater Sr., soldiered in Southwest Mo. and Northwest Ark. with the Union Army. Mr. Drinkwater had no immediate survivors. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Culver chapel in Cassville, with the Rev. Jerry Nickle officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery at Exeter, MO |
