Text | Gunter News: Died, Martha Dickson (aka Dixon), at D. P. McPhail's, Wednesday, Jan 18. The remains were interred at the Arnhart cemetery Saturday. Her son, Sam and son-in-law arrived from Oklahoma, Friday night.
Born 5 Jan 1825 Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee Died 17 Jan 1901 (aged 76) Butterfield, Barry County, Missouri Daughter of Samuel Taylor Riddle and Mary Ann Welch. 11 Feb 1847 married Andrew John Dickson. John seems to be a casualty of the Steamboat Sultana explosion. On 27 Apr 1865 near Memphis, TN 'The Sultana' was overloaded w/liberated POW's returning home when a boiler blew. John had served w/company C 3rd TN CAV Union. |
