Text | Another sudden summons has visited a happy home and carried away the spirit of an excellent woman, a woman of God, who believed in His teaching, practiced the examples of goodness of character and commenced the good work many years ago, and let His light so shine that it might light the pathway of many others to the happy goal where nothing but live and happiness prevail. Her life should be an example to many others to follow in her footsteps. She never indulged in self pity, and could always see a little good in the worst of us.
She was a wonderful mother in many ways, always bearing her hardships with patience and always ready and willing to lend a helping hand and offering comforting words and loving consolation to her children all those around her. Mary Elizabeth Shewmake, was born in Barry County, Dec. 16, 1862, died July 10, 1930. Age 67 years 6 months and 24 days. She was married to E. DeBusk of Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 16, 1887. To this union seven children were born who are, Harvey DeBusk of Wheaton, Noah of Pittsburg, Kan. Ada Dame of Wheaton, Eve Maness of Pittsburg, Kan., Marie DeBusk of Wheaton, Elbert of California and her husband, E. DeBusk, all surviving except on child who died in infancy. She also leaves three brothers and one sister, who are, Wiley T. Shewmake of Los Angeles, Calif., J.E. Shewmake, and Mrs. Erd Paul of Wheaton and John Shewmate of Treece, Kan, and other relatives and friends. On account of waiting for the arrival of her son, Elbert from California the body was held until Tuesday afternoon, July 15, when funeral services were held at the Wheaton Baptist church by Chas Vanzandt and burial in Rocky Comfort Cemetery. |
