Text | Robert Segal Davis was born in Lawrence County, Nov. 19, 1862. He departed this life at his home north of Wheaton Thursday noon May 30, 1929, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 11 days.
He was united in marriage to Alice Wiseley in the year of 1883, and to this union was born eight children, two of whom died in infancy. The six surviving him are: Homer Davis, Pierce City, Mrs. Iva Stansbury, Springfield, Sherman Davis, Wheaton, Floyd, Lee and Lela at home. Besides his wife and children he leaves two brothers, Rueben Davis and John Davis of near Wheaton, also five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 32 and lived a devoted Christian life till the end. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at Muncie Chapel Friday, May 31 by Rev. Goodnight and his body laid to rest there under the direction of Pogues Undertaking. |
