Text | Minnie Davis, 79, of Washburn, died April 14 at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Davis was born July 28, 1927, in Fairview, the daughter of Bert Abraham and Maud Margaret Shockley. She moved back to Washburn in 1950. She was employed by Johnson's Variety Store in Cassville for several years and attended the Church of Christ in Washburn. She served as the OATS bus contact and as a Republican election judge in Washburn. She was on the OACAC board for several years. She married J. R. Davis on November 23, 1946, in Columbus, Kansas, and he preceded her in death January 27, 1972. Survivors include two sons, of Cassville and of Verona; one daughter, of Washburn; two brothers, of Blue Springs and of Wheaton; two sisters, of Wayne and of Carthage; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one cousin. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Everett Shockley, Wilber Shockley, and Charlie Shockley; and three sisters, Hazel Young, Bonnie Woodward, and Norma Catron. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, at White Funeral Home in Cassville with Ken West, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Washburn Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, April 18, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fairhaven Children's Home in Strafford. |
