He first married a Miss Harbin and one daughter was born of this marriage who is the wife of Wm. Henry. After his first wifes death, he married Miss McCary, a daughter of B. F. He was the brother of Jake Davis, prosecuting attorney, Judge Wm. and Henry Davis of Wheaton and O. D. Davis of Washburn, and Mrs. Mary Platin of Semcoe, McDonald county.

Rev. Eli Stephens conducted funeral services at the Davis home Sunday, after which the remains were entered in King or Roller Cemetery. He was a quiet citizen, believed in doing right, honest and upright and enjoyed the confidence of his acquaintances.

Isham Bert Davis

1851 - 1917

Bert Davis lived just north of Seligman where everyone was related. I can connect every which way:

1860 Census, Shoal Creek Township
563 DAVIS, Oliver 35 TN
Mary A 30 TN
Nancy E. 11 AR
Isham B. 9 AR (Bert Feb 24, 1851- Nov 2, 1917)
Joseph H. 8 AR (Henry of the obit?)
Elijah W. 6 AR (W. E. of the obit?)
Jacob S. 4 TX (J. S. or Jake of the obit)
Mary C. 2 AR ( Mrs Platin of the obit)

In 1870 Mary was head of house with Oliver 6 AR (O.D. of the obit?)

Bert is buried at KingsCemetery.

Tennie Harbin Davis is buried at King, Bert’s first wife 1863-1886, mother of Gertie Davis Henry (Oct 10, 1884 - Sept 6, 1963)

Tennie V. Harbin was daughter of John Harbin and first wife Nancy A. John Harbin was nephew of the honorable Alfred S. Harbin who represented Barry County several terms before the Civil War at the Missouri House. A. S. Harbin’s wife, Heneritta Lowe Harbin was the sister of Elizabeth Lowe Gowen, my g-g-grandmother, who’s daughter, Martha Rains Gowen was the second wife of John Harbin.

Bert’s second wife, Sallie McCary Davis, April 3, 1866 - Apr. 3, 1951 (King or Roller) was my grandfather’s sister and was the last of her family to die. I recall attending Aunt Sallie’s funeral. The corpse was laid out in her home as, I suppose, was the custom in those days. That morning, two men wearing rubber boots came in and stepped up to the casket. They both rubbed their hands like one does to get warm. "We got your grave dug Sallie", one of the men said to the casket. I always suspected the grave was a favor, not for pay.
