Text | Berneta Opal Dalton, 90, of Miami, Okla., formerly of rural Cassville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at her home. She was born on May 5, 1920, in Eagle Rock, daughter of Ruben and Ida (Shrum) Maloney.
She was united in marriage to Bennett Theodore Dalton on June 5, 1938, at Oak Ridge in Barry County. He preceded her in death May 14, 1990. She received her education at Lone Elm, Cedar Mound and Hailey rural schools, east of Cassville. She lived in the Hailey community several years, where she and her husband farmed. For over 20 years, they owned and operated Dalton's Bait Station in Cassville. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church at Aurora and Miami, Okla. Survivors include: two sons, Frederick Dalton, and his wife, Aida, of Joplin, and David Dalton, and his wife, Janet, of Neosho; two daughters, Mary Allen, and her husband, Tom, of Miami, Okla., and Margaret Mickelson, and her husband, Kenneth, of Bartlesville, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Theodore Bennett Dalton; five sisters, Goldie Lester, Jewell Thomas, Rhoda Hilton, Sarah Jane Pohlod and Ruby Peak; and two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held at the White Funeral Home in Cassville at 1 p.m. on Friday with Evangelist Margo Peterson and Seventy Ben Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville. Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home in Cassville. |
