Edward Cullup of Roswell, New Mexico, passed to his eternal home, Sunday, March 11, 1917, after a few days sickness of liver trouble. Mr. Cullup had not been enjoying good health for sometime, being trouble with liver and heart aliments. Yet his condition was not generally considered as serious. He attended to the duties of his business until a few days before he expired. Mr. Cullup was born in Grayson County, Texas, Feb. 22, 1865 and in 1867 came with his parents to Missouri and settled near Powell, McDonald County, where he grew to manhood. Afterward he moved to Barry County, engaging in the milling business at Corsicana and later at Eagle Rock. For eleven years he and brother, John Cullup, operated a mill at Purdy. From Purdy he moved his family to New Mexico settling at Melrose, later he moved to Roswell. He was married to Miss Edna Skelton of Eagle Rock, Mo., Sept. 18th 1892. To this union were born two children, Mrs. R. N. Lykins and Ora Cullup both of Roswell, N. M. He also leaves three brothers, Will Cullup of Roswell, John and Tom Cullup of California. Mr. Cullup was all that a good citizen should be a consistent Christian man, kindly disposed neighborly and progressive. He was a Mason and W. O. W. Funeral service were conducted by Dr. R. H. Jenkins pastor of the First Baptist Church of Roswell. Interment was made in the Roswell Cemetery. |
