Text | Monett, Mo. April 24 - Mrs. Milligan Cox, 83 years old, died at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Maude White. She had resided in Monett 65 years and was widely known here. Surviving are six sons, Oscar Cox of Joplin, Felton Cox of Clearmont, Fla., and Felix Cox, Alvin Cox, Lloyd Cox and Carroll Cox. all of Monett, a daughter, Mrs. Maude White, and a half brother, John Ferguson of Sour Lake, Tex. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Blankenship funeral home by the Rev. Fred Schmidke, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be in I. O.O. F. cemetery. Research Note: Alvin Cox's death certificate has Milligan Cox as his father's name. His mother was given as Vanetta Ferguson. His wife was given as Irene Cox. He was a retired merchant. 107 Broadway, Monett, Barry Co., MO, was his usual address. Milligan and Vanetta were listed in 1880 in White Co., GA. Milligan died Dec. 22, 1931 and was buried in IOOF, also. His death certificate names Mrs. Vanetta Cox as his wife. |
