Oshea Cox, 21 years old and a son of James Cox of Joplin, accidentally shot and killed himself, Saturday morning between eight and nine o'clock at his father's home. The sad and unfortunate incident occurred while he was cleaning a 38 caliber revolver. In testing the results of his work he snapped the gun and the bullet which he failed to notice in the chamber of the gun took its effect in his right temple. He lived about three hours. His body was brought here Sunday and interred at the Horner Cemetery following funeral services conducted at the Horner church by Rev. Chappell. The deceased was a nephew of Dan Cox, Mrs. Joseph Baker and Mrs. J. C. Ireland of near town. Besides a father he leaves two brothers to mourn his untimely death. The family resided in this locality some years ago. |
