Text | Hollis Lavern Cox, 82, of Cassville, died May 4 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mr. Cox was born September 6, 1918, in Horner, the son of Winfred A. and Columbia Wallen Cox. He was a 1936 graduate of Cassville High School and attended Monett Junior College. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. He worked for Pet Milk Company and was a sporting goods sales representative until retiring in 1995. He officiated high school and junior college basketball and football games for more than 35 years and also managed an American Legion baseball team. He married Dorothea Rorebeck on September 17, 1944. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Cox and Neomah Gibbons; and one brother, Buel Cox. Memorial service was 10:30 a.m. today, May 7, at the First Baptist Church in Cassville. Burial was in Horner Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the American Legion baseball program. |
