Text | Dorsey Eugene Cox, age 80, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at his home.
He was born March 30, 1926, in Cassville, and was a son of the late Otis and Mary Edith (Hawk) Cox, both of whom served as Barry County Circuit Clerk. He was united in marriage to Vandonia Payne in 1953. He attended school at Pasley and Cassville, graduating in 1944 from Cassville High School. The family operated the first Daylight Donut shop in Cassville. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force for two years until the end of WWII. He was employed by the FBI for 32 years where he retired as accounting section administrator. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville where he accepted Christ as his saviour at an early age. He was also a charter member of the Calverton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He loved to fish and camp and especially enjoyed his many trips back home to Cassville, Flat Creek and Roaring River. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wallen and Harlan; three sisters, Lavera, Willie Jewel and Ruth. Funeral services were held at the Calverton Baptist Church in Silver Spring, MD, and burial was near Eldersburg, MD on Nov. 29, 2006. |
