Text | Obit#1 - William R. Cowley died here yesterday, He was 71 years, 2 months and 22 days at the time of his death. While he had been in poor health much of the time the last year or more he was active most of the time up till last Sunday when his condition took a marked turn for the worse and culminated in death yesterday morning. The most notable phase of his professional career was his connection with the Long-Bell Lumber company. For thirty three years he was general attorney for that company. Starting as attorney for R. A. Long when he was laying the foundation for what has since become one of the biggest enterprises in the West, Mr, Cowley played an important part in its development. Even after his retirement rom active duty as general attorney for Long-Bell company, Mr. Cowley was recently consulted by Mr. Long who had confidence in his good judgment. Obit#2 - Col. W. R. Cowley, an aged civil War Veteran died at Columbus, Kan., last week. He delivered an address at Cassville reunion in 1911 and was an able speaker. He was a well known attorney and was a resident of Columbus forty years. Obit#3 - Funeral of W.R. Cowley The funeral of W.R. Cowley, whose death occurred Tuesday, July 14, was held from the home at 3:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Luther Moore and Rev. Oliver Cook, former pastor of the Christian church here. Many friends and relatives were present from out of town. The floral offerings were beautiful annd many in number. The remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery. |
