| Text | Helen Ethel (Suttle) Cowherd of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Monett, died August 26 at Life Care Center of North Glendale, Arizona. Mrs. Cowherd was a 1932 graduate of Monett High School. She was an executive secretary for Carter/Humble Oil Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and her husband were entrepreneurs of the Holiday Lodge in Red River, New Mexico from 1961 to 1974, and Leon's Chicken house restaurants in Oklahoma and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She lived at Rockin' C Ranch in Monett from 1974 to 1989 and was active in the First Baptist Church in Monett. She married Leon Cowherd on October 12, 1940 in Monett, and he preceded her in death March 24, 1989. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 31, at Floral Haven Memorial Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Burial will be in Floral Haven Memorial Garden. |
