Text | Roy Cornell, native Barry County citizen, and high standing and well known farmer and school teacher, residing at Seligman, fell death from a heart attack, in the field near his home, last Friday morning, after he had plowed one round. Mr. Cornell had been enjoying good health and had all appearances of a healthy person. H. A. Walker, prominent Seligman druggist who was walking from his resident in Seligman, to his store, observed the stricken man in the field and saw him fall. He quickly rushed to his and attempted to raise him from the ground but he had passed on. An inquest was not held. The deceased was born and reared near Eagle Rock, and was 55 years old. He was a son of the late W.A. Cornell, who preceded him in death about 11 months ago. He leaves his grief stricken widow and five children, 2 boys and three girls to mourn his untimely passing. He also leaves a brother, Troy, prominent rural mail carrier of Seligman, and hosts of friends. Roy was one of the county’s respected citizens and enjoyed an extensive acquaintance. Funeral services were held at the New Salem church, Sunday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. Deceased: J. L.
