Obit For Hiram Cooper
Headline -
Text When the summons of death came and carried away the spirit a beautiful life had been recorded and the invitation to step up higher had been decreed and God's will be done.

None but those who have sat in the shadow of such bereavement can justly weigh such sorrow as this. Thos who have gone down into the valley of suffering and stood for months by the side of a loved one, as hope after hoped dropped away, know that such anguish cannot find solace in the tenderest words.

He who has gone forth could not be supported on his solitary path by an earthly friend.

The relatives and loved ones whose strength was tenderly given to this precious invalid could not detain him by the clasp of earthly love, but after the last word had been spoken and the last sign of recognition was gone, a look of peace settled on his face which proclaimed victory and we knew he was resting on a mighty arm.

Hiram Cooper was born in Alabama, March 1, 1836, died Aug 25, 1916, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 24 days. At the age of 11 years he moved with his parents to Maysville, Ark. After reaching manhood he moved to Madison County where he was married to Sarah Jeffries. To them were born five children, four daughters and one son. The wife and daughters are dead. The son, Robert Cooper, of Joplin survives.

Mr. Cooper united with the Presbyterian Church at the age of 35 years, and lived a consistent Christian up to the time of his death. He came back to his old home near Corsicana to spend his last days, where he lived with Wm. Stringer.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Clark Cemetery by Rev. W. F. Goodnight after which the remains were laid to rest to await the resurrection day.
