Text | M. J. Combs was born in Madison County Arkansas, April 10, 1861. He moved with his parents to Missouri in 1866. He died July 6, 1922 at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 26 days. He was married to Alice Tucker, August 19, 1879. To this union were born ten children: five boys and five girls who are: Elmer, Clarence, and Roy who are in California, Mrs. Stella Simmons of Picher, Okla., Mrs. Effie Smith of Berryville, Ark., Mrs. Della West, Lawton, Esther and Hester who are living near Purdy, Ethel departed life sever years ago. He was converted in 1887 and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1898 he joined the Methodist Protestant Church and was ordained to preach the following year. He began failing in health in Jan. 1922. All through sickness he bore his afflictions with a loving and cheerful spirit. He had a smile for everyone. He is survived by his wife, nine children, eight grand children, one brother and five sisters. A father, mother, four brothers and three sisters have gone on before him. Funeral services were held from the New Church last Friday. Interment made at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Purdy Review |
