Text | Joe Allen Collins, 52, of Purdy, died at 1:15 p.m. April 14 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, following a sudden illness. Mr. Collins was born June 30, 1946, in Lamar, the son of Benjamin and Della Mae Bell Collins. He was a longtime resident of Purdy, owner- operator of Assisted Living Facilities, Country Side Care of Monett, Magnolia Manor of Purdy, and Cedar Ridge of Cassville, and was owner of Blue Water Cruise Agency of Purdy. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict, was a member of the Monett Chamber of Commerce and Missouri League of Nursing Home Administrators, and New Freedom Worship Center in Purdy. He married Patricia Johnson December 11, 1966, in Iola, Kansas, and she survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Amgie Collins of Purdy; one son, Troy Lee Collins of Purdy; three brothers, James Leroy Collins of Ravenna, Nebraska, Earnest B. Collins of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Leslie Jr. Collins of Eugene, Oregon; and one sister, Dorothy Venable of Stockton. Services will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, April 17, at New Freedom Worship Center of Purdy with Rev. Joe Wogoman officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Ruhamah Cemetery in Rantaul, Kansas, under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 16, at the funeral home. |
