Text | Ezra J. Cartwright was born Aug. 4, 1881, and departed this life Oct. 16, 1949, age 68 years, 2 months and 12 days. He was the son of Frank F. and Delliah Cartwright. He was united in marriage to Etta Pearl Brown on Dec. 6, 1900 and to this union was born three children, Mrs. Loyd Ghan of Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Norman Dickson of Wheaton and Orin Cartwright of Richland, Calif. His companion preceded him in death on January 29, 1917. He was later united in marriage to Emma Warren on Aug. 14, 1926. Surviving are his wife, Emma, the three children; three brothers, Walter Cartwright of Coeur d'Alene Idaho, Herman Cartwright of Santa Ana, Calif., and Arthur Cartwright of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Sheppard of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Ray Hurlbut of Shelton, Wash.; seven grandchildren, three great grand-children and a host of friends and neighbors. Mr. Cartwright was converted at an early age and lived an effective christian life, and was a faithful worker in the Methodist Church. His home was in Wheaton where he had resided for a number of years. He was formerly in the grocery business in Wehaton and had worked as a clerk in numerous grocery stores in Wheaton for several years. Mr. Cartwright was well liked by all who knew him and took particular interest in the young people of the town and community. Funeral services were conducted at the Wheaton Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18 by the Pastor, Rev. Roy Striblind, and assisted by Rev. Sherman Erickson of Monett. Burial was mad in the Rocky Comforty Cemetery under direction of the Pogue Funeral Home. |
