Text | Charlotte A. Carter, 70, of Washburn, died on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, while staying with her sister in Mendota, Ill. She was born in Mendota, Ill., on June 6, 1938, the daughter of Harry and Vietta "Midge" Blackburn Walzer. She married Dr. Robert Carter on Aug. 6, 1960, in Peoria, Ill. Dr. Carter died on Aug. 8, 1976. She was a writer of fiction and a homemaker. She was a member of the Cassville Missouri Writers' Group and the Northwest Ridge Writers at Springdale, Ark. Survivors include: a son; four daughters; 12 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and three sisters. Her parents and a brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Jan. 17 at the First United Methodist Church of Mendota with Pastor Michael Morrell officiating, followed by burial at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville, Ill. Research Notes: Charlotte raised her 5 children alone after the death of her husband. Wanting to get away from all the old memories, she chose Missouri as their new home. Her first book was published only a few years ago but it was something that she wanted to accomplish in her lifetime. She was a very kind and loving person and will be missed. |
