Nancy Carlin, wife of Marshall Carlin; one of this county's most influential and substantial farmers, died last week after an illness of several weeks resulting from a lingering attack of lagrippe. She was 75 years old and had lived in this county all her life, having been born in Roaring River township. Mrs. Carlin as a devoted Christian woman and dearly beloved by relatives and friends. She leaves a number of children. They are Lafayette, Charles, Sherman, Thomas, Mrs. Samantha Hudson, John, Brit, Pleasant and Rev. Luther Carlin. She was a sister of Boone Haddock of Eagle Rock. April 11, 1912, Thursday, Cassville Republican #2. New Site News: Mrs. Marshal Carlin died April 10, of pneumonia. She was seventy-five years old and the mother of nine children all of who are living and all were here for the funeral except one son. She was a member of the Purdy Baptist Church. Rev. Marion Smith of Exeter conducted the services. Research Note: Nancy (Haddock) Carlin, was the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Collins) Haddock, Jr. Callaway Funeral Home Records listed that Mrs. Nancy Carlin died in 1912, which agrees with the newspaper item. The funeral was on the 11th of April 1912 at New Site Church at 3 p.m.. The cause of her death was pneumonia. And her death came on the 10th of Apr in 1912. She was age 75 years, 1 MO, 15 days, and was buried at New Site Cemetery, Barry Co., MO. |
