Obit For William Parker and Flora Ann (McDougal) Cardwell
Headline OBITUARY OF MR. AND MRS. CARDWELL
Text W. P. Cardwell, highly respected citizen of Stella died of double pneumonia Monday, Feb. 24, 1929. He was born Nov. 27, 1855, age 73 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Mr. Cardwell has resided in Newton County practically all his life. He is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Addie Poor and Mrs. Sarah Stanley, both of Galena, Kan.; one brother, J. H. Cardwell of Lawanta, Colo., and many other relatives and friends. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and one among the best citizens of the community.

Mrs. W. P. Cardwell passed away five days later, March 2, 1929 of double pneumonia. She was born Oct. 22, 1855. Age 74 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was converted and united with the M. E. South Church at Old Harmony campground, now the Wanda Church, Sept. 1885. She lived a devoted self-sacrificing Christian life until called to rest in that Great Beyond.

She is survived by one brother, G. M. McDougal, and other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Cardwell were united in marriage Dec. 10, 1882. To this union three children were born, two having died in infancy. One son, Dr. C. C. Cardwell, wife and daughter, of Stella survives. Mrs. Cardwell before her marriage was Flora Ann McDougal.

Funeral services for Mr. Cardwell were conducted by Rev. Gold and Rev. Vanzandt Thursday Feb. 28 in the Baptist Church at Stella. Mrs. Cardwell’s funeral was conducted Sunday March 3, at the same place and by the same ministers. Both bodies were laid to rest side by side in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Pogue’s Undertaking.
