Headline "Billie" Burton Dies
Text William T. Barton, known among his friends as "Billie" died June 21, 1924, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Burton just west of Cassvill at 2:45 a.m, the direct cause of death being uremic poison at the age of 18 years, 6 months and 20 days.

Billie who was a barber by trade had been at Dewey, Okla, working at his profession when he was first taken sick with what was reported home as ptomain poisining and after recovering sufficiently he came home to recuperate but had been home only a few days when he took a back-set. The disease was not long in developing into a serious kidney trouble which soon calmed his earthly sufferings.

Billie is survived by his mother, Mrs. Neil Lawson of Exeter, one uncle, Cliff Burton of Cassville and one aunt, Mrs. Henry Tidings of Oklahoma. His father, John Burton, died four years ago. He had been making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Burton and had gone to Dewey where he had accepted a position in a barber ship.

Funeral services were held at the Cliff Burton home Sunday afternoon, June 22, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. R.J. Kyle with prayer by Rev. J.T. Brattin and interment made in the Oak Hill cemetery, Cassville.

A quartet composed of Earl Mitchel, J.W. Hisey, Mrs. Glenn Pearl and Mrs. John Ray with piano accompaniment by Mrs. B.D. Wilks sang some beautiful songs.
