Text | Mrs. Mildred Wear Bryan, who until some years ago, lived in Cassville a number of years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. McClure, at Claremore, Okla., Thursday March 25, 1915, following several months sickness of cancer. Mrs. Bryan was a daughter of the late William and Sarah A. Wear and was born at Otterville, Cooper County, Mo., February 10, 1842. She grew to womanhood at Otterville. In 1893 she was married To Charles S. Bryan. To this union three children were born two living. They are Dr. W.W. Bryan and Mrs. W. D. McClure, born in Claremore, Okla. In 1868 the family moved to Cassville. Mr. Bryan who died here in 1897 was one of Barry County's best known citizens, having been twice elected recorder of deeds, having served one term as collector of the revenue, two terms as representative in the legislature and one term as school commissioner. After the death of the husband Mrs. Bryan lived here until about 1909 when she went to Claremore to live with her children. She was a cousin of W. A. Wear of this city. The body was brought to Cassville and interred at the Oak Hill cemetery after short funeral services held at the W. A. Wear home. Sunday afternoon by Rev. E. W. Love. |
